Unless I miss my guess, the whole point of Project Rebirth is PvP. -==- Holy-Jim> as you know, surprise is the key to victory.....surprise! LooseCannoN> ahh! LooseCannoN> my plans have been foiled! |

No point having content if noone can get it ;)
From recent posts I wuold guesstimate a Titan at 100-200 billion. 1 trillion is right out re: CCP. -==- Holy-Jim> as you know, surprise is the key to victory.....surprise! LooseCannoN> ahh! LooseCannoN> my plans have been foiled! |

Quite frankly, this is subjective and open to varying opinions. Your "Pro" of decreasing the death penalty I and many others would consider a "Con". We don't want more PVP, we want more meaningful PVP.
Stupid comment. EVE already has a harsher death penalty than virtually any other game out there when you lose your ship - never mind the pod! I think you (and the people agreeing with you) are too rich.

That's terrible. Rebirth is to make moving players into combat easier, not be, well, never used. -==- Holy-Jim> as you know, surprise is the key to victory.....surprise! LooseCannoN> ahh! LooseCannoN> my plans have been foiled! |

No it's not. A 10,000,000 sp character would spend 100,000 sps. Who the heck throws away 100,000 SPs? Noone. -==- Holy-Jim> as you know, surprise is the key to victory.....surprise! LooseCannoN> ahh! LooseCannoN> my plans have been foiled! |

There should be a possiblity to rebirth to POS, so players can join in to defend their stations. But perhaps it should require it's own structure, a Cloning Lab of some kind, to restrict it to military or large POS.
Remember always the intent is to encourage PvP by getting people to battles faster and easier, and yes, should include Tech1 frigate swarming and the like. I yearn for a combat experience in EVE to rival, say, Darkspace, in case anyone here has played that.

Don't be foolish vegeir. Market hubs are where they are because they're central or on trade routes. In game distances won't change an iota so far as goods, ships, equipment, and minerals are concerned. -==- Holy-Jim> as you know, surprise is the key to victory.....surprise! LooseCannoN> ahh! Rod Blaine, if they can't stop a mass hauler entering their supposed territory than they have bigger problems than Rebirth. And if you're escorting it with a fleet, then you just sent in an attack fleet. In which case they again have bigger problems.
Objecting to it on the basis of NPC stations is silly anyways; that is technically NPC territory, not alliance territory. In any case, there are things that can be done about that. -==- Holy-Jim> as you know, surprise is the key to victory.....surprise! LooseCannoN> ahh! LooseCannoN> my plans have been foiled! |

What facts?
Anyways, relevant quote from the post-devchat interview:
Quote:
Richardsson: That depends on a number of things. We think we need a number of other supportive changes to addressing the instajump bookmarks in addition exchanging them with a proper system which gives you drawbacks. Rebirth is a good example of such a system and so is the Increased Defenses track of the Combat Revisited.
meaning, Rebirth is part of the push to remove insta-bookmarks. -==- Holy-Jim> as you know, surprise is the key to victory.....surprise! LooseCannoN> ahh! LooseCannoN> my plans have been foiled! |

.. The insta implication is that if people can rebirth to a warzone, insta-jumps are less important, because people don't need to be using them- they could rebirth somewhere if they wished. That's not enough to offset instas importance on its own, of course; thats why increased defenses , etc. factor in. -==- Holy-Jim> as you know, surprise is the key to victory.....surprise! You can claim it has nothing to do with instas all you want, but you'll still be wrong.
Increased durability and possibly WCS/Scrambler changes are obviously things that may also factor into instas.
Another Insta-factor is the now dev-confirmed plans for player sentry guns.
The reason instas factor in is because of Travel Times. I'll give one example. Say you purchase a skillbook or a load of ship equipment, but you're at your home station. Or say that you're tending a POS but your corp needs you 20 jumps away. At the moment, instas reduce travel times for these actions. Removing instas would increase travel times for these actions, but Rebirth would bring them back down again- you could clonejump to stations near where you need to be, though it might cost you. -==- Holy-Jim> as you know, surprise is the key to victory.....surprise! If there's a gate camp, no matter HOW quick you are in normal space you will will probably be caught and killed (by snipers, say) in a frig without instas in a LOT of situations. I've seen eagles one-volley AF's, ffs.
Defenses buff. Helloooo. I generally don't like to assume bad faith but a lot of people here are just ignoring things that I am positive they know about. Rebirth is not and was never said to be a sole replacement for instas and stop pretending it's presented that way. It is part of a long term plan for removal of instas, which, again, might include
-Defenses buff (huge!) -Player sentry guns -Titan jump gates -Revamp of scrambler system -Any number of other things.
All bad scenarios thrown out there involving Rebirth seems only to involve NPC stations (transporting afleet to NPC stations), which is a problem with NPC stations, not with the concept of Rebirth! In any case, NPC stations are in NPC sovereignty, not in player sovereignty- the difference between which will only continue to grow and grow in these regards, not decrease! -==- Holy-Jim> as you know, surprise is the key to victory.....surprise!
